Habakkuk is complaining to God: how long will you let this injustice continue? I cry out and you don't answer. I see violence and you don't intervene. It's an honest lament - Habakkuk is frustrated with God.
And God's response is surprising. God doesn't tell Habakkuk to shut up or have faith. God shows Habakkuk something: I'm raising up the Chaldeans to bring judgment. God is acting - just not in the way Habakkuk expected.
I've asked God 'how long' many times - how long will this depression last, how long will this injustice continue, how long before I see change. And God's response isn't usually what I expect. God is working, just on a different timeline and in ways I can't anticipate.
