Paul asks: 'How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?' He quotes Isaiah: 'How beautiful the feet of those who bring good news!'
I'm a short-term missionary. I spend two weeks a year in underresourced communities sharing the gospel. It feels small. I'm not planting churches or doing long-term development work. But Paul's words remind me: someone has to go. Someone has to speak. Someone's feet bring the news. That's not small. That's essential.
When I return home, people ask: 'Did you see conversions? Did you plant a church?' Not really. But I spoke the gospel. I answered questions. I put myself in the position to be part of the chain that leads to belief. And that's enough. The gospel spreads through thousands of small acts of sharing. My two weeks matters.
