Joseph's last statement to his brothers: God will surely visit you and bring you up out of this land to the land He swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Joseph is dying in Egypt. He's been successful there, powerful there. But his last words look backward to the promise and forward to restoration. He's saying: don't settle here. Don't think Egypt is the end. God's going to come for you.
I think about how Joseph never lost the vision of the promised land - even in prosperity, even in power. He stayed orientated toward God's larger story. That orientation is what he passes to his brothers and what gets transmitted to the next generation. They'll remember - when oppression comes, God promised restoration.
