After Abraham dies, God blesses Isaac. The blessing is transferred, explicitly given to the next generation.
There's something about blessing that goes with the person, not with the property or the status. The land, the wealth - those get divided. But blessing is separate and it continues.
My mother told me before she died that her blessing on me was ongoing. She couldn't guarantee my safety or success, but her blessing would continue. That distinction - between what ends and what persists - has mattered.
