The Israelites did everything exactly as the Lord commanded Moses. There's something both comforting and convicting about this verse. They could have improved the system, streamlined it, made it more efficient. Instead, they trusted that God's way was worth following precisely. I grew up in a home where my mother followed recipes exactly as written. "Why would I change what someone has perfected?" she'd ask. Her bread was legendary. Her cakes never fell. I spent years trying to improve on her formulas, adding my own touches, and I consistently failed. Finally, I returned to her exact method. The moment I stopped trying to improve it, I understood why it worked. There's wisdom in recognizing that some things are designed with intention we might not immediately grasp. Not every command is arbitrary. Not every instruction can be optimized by our modern sensibilities.
