Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. Character shows up in how you treat the small things.
I've been thinking about this in terms of daily life. How I treat people with no power to affect my future. How I spend small amounts of money. How I keep small commitments. Do I think small things matter? Or do I think they don't count, they're just the practice round? Luke is saying small things reveal actual character. And trustworthiness with small things is what earns access to greater responsibility. I need to be more careful with how I steward the little I've been given.
