Peter said, 'Lord, if that's you, tell me to come to you on the water.' And he climbed out of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. For a moment—just a moment—Peter does the impossible.
I think we misread this story. We focus on Peter sinking and losing faith. But the actual miracle is that for a moment, someone genuinely believed the impossible and participated in it. Peter wasn't just thinking about walking on water—he was doing it. Yes, he got afraid and sank. But that doesn't erase that he walked. I've been sitting with this because I spent years in spiritual passivity, waiting until I was certain before I acted. But Peter teaches me that sometimes you step into the possibility and the faith grows in the walking. You can't pray your way into courage. You have to step out and discover that the support is there. Sure, you might sink. But you'll also know—in your body, not just your head—that the impossible has happened.
