God tells the people to bring their tithe into the storehouse, and then He makes an unusual offer: test me. See if I don't open the heavens and pour out blessing. It's God inviting people to put Him to the test.
It's one of the few places in Scripture where God invites testing. Usually God rebukes people for testing. But here God says: go ahead, test me on this. See if I'm faithful.
I've been skeptical of prosperity teaching - the idea that if you give, God will give more. But this isn't quite that. This is: bring your resources, trust me, and see what happens. It's about trust, not transaction. I've started tithing not as an investment but as an act of trust. I'll see if God is faithful.
