Peter urges his readers to be diligent to be found spotless, blameless, and at peace with him. Don't be complacent about spiritual growth. Be actively pursuing godliness.
He acknowledges that Paul's letters contain some things hard to understand, and some unstable people distort them. Even Scripture can be misused. But growing in grace and knowledge of Jesus is the antidote to deception.
The letter ends where it began: with Christ. He alone is worthy of glory both now and forever. Everything in the Christian life orbits around knowing and becoming like him. That's where security is found.
