God made the lights in the sky for signs and for seasons, for days and for years — and the calendar itself is therefore built into the structure of creation. This is not incidental. I think about how the great Jewish feasts — Passover, Pentecost, Tabernacles — are all tied to the movements of the moon and the rhythms of the agricultural year. And then Christ arrives and fulfils them all in real time, in real history. Sacred time is not a human invention. It is woven into the fabric of the universe by the God who made the lights. Every new month, every changing season, every year that turns is a reminder that we live in a world God structured with meaning. Time itself is theological.

I've been thinking about this differently, but your perspective opened my eyes. This is one of those passages that reads differently in every season of life. Today it speaks comfort; a year ago it spoke conviction..
My small group discussed this exact point last week. We came to a similar conclusion.

This is beautiful. The way you connected the Old and New Testament here is so powerful.

I respectfully see it a bit differently — but I appreciate the thoughtful reflection.
Just saved this to come back to later. So much to unpack here.
