On the eighth day ye shall have a solemn assembly: ye shall do no servile work therein — After seven days of Tabernacles, the eighth day (Shemini Atzeret, the solemn assembly) provides a day of rest and reflection. This eighth day completes the festival cycle and marks transition into ordinary time.
