“Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the Lord of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the Lord’s heave offering to Aaron the priest.”
And so you will not incur sin when you present the best part of the tithe. But you must not profane the holy offerings of the Israelites, or you will die' — the requirement to tithe from the tithes prevents sin-incurrence; failure to set aside God's portion would profane (chalal) the sacred offerings, triggering death. The warning emphasizes that even the Levites cannot treat holy things casually.
