“Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.”
From now on the Israelites must not go near the tent of meeting, or they will bear the consequence of their sin and will die' — the boundary between Levites and lay Israelites is absolute: no non-Levite may approach the tent of meeting. The law protects both the sancta and the people from holiness-related death.
