“And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.”
And he said to them, truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power — the saying immediately follows the shame/Son of Man saying of 8:38, creating a sequence: first the shame of the cross, then the power of the kingdom's arrival. Some who are standing here will not taste death before they see — the timeframe is within the generation of the disciples. The kingdom coming with power is fulfilled variously by the transfiguration (six days later), the resurrection, Pentecost, and the spread of the gospel through the Roman Empire within a generation.

After the consummation of the cross, the glory of the resurrection is shewn, that they, who were to see with their own eyes the glory of the resurrection to come, might not fear the shame of the cross.
And He takes with Him the three chief of the Apostles, Peter, as confessing and loving Him, John, as the beloved one, James, as being sublime in speech and as a divine; for so displeasing was he to the Jews, that Herod wishing to please the Jews slew him.
Our Saviour then when transfigured did not lose the substance of real flesh, but shewed forth the glory of His own or of our future resurrection; for such as He then appeared to the Apostles, He will after the judgment appear to all His elect.
