The oath he swore to our father Abraham — the oath to Abraham is the most foundational promise in Israel's covenantal theology: Genesis 22:16–18 (by myself I have sworn: I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars; through your offspring all nations will be blessed).
