If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed — Jesus offers the condition for true freedom: the Son must make them free. This freedom comes from Jesus, not from political revolution or institutional reform. It is the freedom of those who know the truth and whose sins are forgiven, who are indwelt by the Spirit.
