“Also, O Judah, he hath set an harvest for thee, when I returned the captivity of my people.”
The promise that for Judah also a harvest is appointed suggests that the southern kingdom has not escaped judgment but awaits a day of reckoning parallel to that pronounced against Israel. The image of harvest recalls both the gathering in of judgment as well as the gathering in of blessing, suggesting that the southern kingdom's future depends on whether they heed the northern kingdom's example.
