Sarah lives to be a hundred and twenty-seven years old — the years of Sarah's life. Sarah is the only woman in the Bible whose age at death is given. The detail is a mark of her covenantal significance: she is not a background figure but a named, numbered covenant partner whose life is tracked with the same precision as the patriarchs. Hebrews 11:11 credits Sarah with faith. The application: the numbering of Sarah's years is the text's declaration that her life counted in the same way that Abraham's counted.
