The escape was timed to the last possible moment. Genesis 7:13 records Noah entering the ark on the very day the flood came — the same last-moment precision. Divine rescue and divine judgment are both exactly timed. The application: the sun-timing in verse 23 is a reminder that the grace that has been pulling Lot forward through the chapter has also been managing the clock.
