And on each door were carved cherubim and palm trees like those carved on the walls, and a wooden canopy was on the front of the vestibule outside—describing the carved doors matching the interior decoration and introducing a canopy structure. The matching decoration (cherubim and palms) unifies the interior design program. The wooden canopy on the front of the vestibule provides an external crown to the entrance.
