Thus God will accomplish His wrath upon the wall and upon those who plastered it, that the people may know that the Lord is God. The destruction of the wall and the false prophets serves an educational function: it teaches Israel to recognize God's true character and power. The catastrophic judgment becomes a sign and demonstration of God's sovereignty and the ineffectiveness of false prophecy against His will.
