“And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari: and the years of the life of Levi were an hundred thirty and seven years.”
These were the names of the sons of Levi according to their records: Gershon, Kohath and Merari. Levi lived 137 years. The genealogy narrows to Levi — the priestly tribe, the source of Moses and Aaron. The lifespan noted — 137 years — follows the pattern of patriarchal longevity from Genesis.
