The stones that will bear the engraved names of the twelve tribes before God are brought by the community whose names they will carry. The contribution of the stones for the breastpiece is the contribution of the community to their own representation before God. What they bring becomes the medium through which their names are perpetually present in the holy place. The community funds its own intercession.
