The four posts on which the veil hangs — acacia, gold-overlaid, silver-based — are the frame for the most important threshold in the tabernacle. Gold hooks on gold-overlaid posts on silver bases: the veil's support is as precious as the veil itself. Four posts for the veil and five posts for the entrance screen (verse 37) — the distinction in post count marks the different character of the two thresholds. The veil that separates the holy from the most holy has fewer posts than the entrance that separates the inside from the outside — the final threshold is more austere than the entry.
