And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the Lord shewed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan,
Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho — Moses' final ascent ('va-ya'al Moshe mi-arvot Moav'). Mount Nebo and Pisgah overlook the Jordan and Canaan.
