“I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.”
I declare to you today that you shall perish; you will not live long in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess — disobedience means death ('avad tovedu'). Possession is forfeited.
