2 SAMUEL 11:2 — KING JAMES VERSION 0 0
2 Sam 11:12 Sam 11:3
And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.
But David remained at Jerusalem - David's staying behind is exceptional. Kings lead their armies; David's absence signals something is amiss. The narrative tension builds with this passive statement.
