“And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.”

We ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain — the threefold affirmation (we heard, we ourselves, we were with him) employs intensive repetition for credibility against skeptics. The holy mountain (hieron oros) sanctifies the location as the meeting place of heaven and earth.
