“This is the word that the Lord hath spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.”
'Whom have you mocked and reviled? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes to the heights? Against the Holy One of Israel! — Isaiah's oracle identifies the object of Sennacherib's mockery: the Holy One of Israel (קְדוֹשׁ־יִשְׂרָאֵל, *Qedosh Yisrael*), the LORD. The rhetorical questions emphasize that Sennacherib, in mocking Hezekiah and Jerusalem, has actually mocked the LORD.
