“And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.”
"And Solomon said, 'You have shown great and steadfast love to my father David your servant, because he walked before you in faithfulness, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart toward you; and you have kept for him this great kindness, and have given him a son to sit on his throne this day.'" — Solomon's response begins with *thanksgiving* (*hesed gadol*) to God for David's life.
